We have decided to use the Office 2010 Black styling for a ribbon.

For several buttons, we have used the "menu items" collection of a button to create a gallery-like submenu.

Our users are complaining that they don't see the icon for the dropdown menu, because it is too feint.

On close examination, we see that the dropdown arrow has a kind of bezelled look in Office 2010 Black, whereas it appears normal in all the other colour styles. This Bezel makes the black arrow much harder to see than if it was just plain old black.

How do we remove the bezel and make the arrow easier to see, whilst still respecting the Office 2010 look and feel?

Note that in a MS office application, this bevelling is not seen - it is only on BCGsoft ribbon with this particular color setting

Any help would be appreciated!

I should add that my question relates to the MFC ribbon. Not sure why it has been relocated to a general programming issue
